Lucasfilm, Disney, and Make-A-Wish® Join Forces to Grant 11-year-old Connor’s Wish on Star Wars Day

For 11-year-old Connor, May the 4th, 2023, also known to fans as Star Wars Day, was out of this galaxy.

Connor is a cancer survivor and a student at Poe Elementary in Houston, TX. He’s well-known among his friends for his perpetual positivity and passion for Star Wars, especially when it comes to his favorite character, Boba Fett.

On May 4, 2023, Lucasfilm, Disney, and Make-A-Wish teamed up to help make Connor’s wish come true, when he was presented with a helmet signed by actor Temuera Morrison, who stars in the Disney+ series The Book of Boba Fett.

The week before May the 4th, 2023, in celebration of World Wish Day® and for Connor’s wish reveal, Morrison dispatched a special video message to Connor’s school, telling Connor and his classmates about the big surprise.

“It was so cool,” Connor said. “I was so excited.” But Morrison left out a few details to make Connor’s wish extra special.

When Connor went to pick up his helmet on May the 4th, 2023, he was greeted by characters from a galaxy far, far away, who also surprised him with his own tailored suit of armor.

The Mandalorian Mercs fan group presented Connor with his helmet and armor, before officially inducting him in as an honorary member of the group.

“Thank you, Make-A-Wish, and thank you, Lucasfilm,” Connor exclaimed.

During Thursday’s event, we found out more good news: Connor is now cancer-free!

“Connor is a really amazing kid, who battled for five years with a cancer diagnosis. This wish journey and this moment was more than just a gift. This wish was a celebration of all he’s overcome in the last five years,” shared Shelly Millwee, Interim President and CEO of MAW Texas Gulf Coast and Louisiana.

For more than 40 years, Disney and Make-A-Wish have worked together to deliver joy when it’s needed most to wish kids and their families.
