Disney Musicals in Schools

Disney Musicals in Schools ignites a passion for storytelling by building lasting musical theatre programs in public elementary schools. By providing free performance rights to Disney musicals, free show materials and free professional development to participating teachers, Disney Musicals in Schools has helped educators across the US and UK create new musical theatre programs, inspiring future generations of storytellers, artists and audiences. Since 2009, Disney Musicals in Schools has helped more than 125,000 students perform in their first musical.

Disney Musicals in Schools offers teacher training through two pathways. The first is available in certain cities and features in-person Residencies for teachers with support from Disney-trained teaching artists and local nonprofit arts organizations. In 2025, Disney created a second pathway and expanded the reach of Disney Musicals in Schools through a new online platform Stage Connect – allowing an U.S. public elementary school to participate in the program. Hosted by L. Steven Taylor and Bonita Hamilton from Broadway’s The Lion King, Stage Connect features demonstration videos and downloadable resources that coach teachers through every step of putting on a show.
